PPTIK ITB Participates in DIPTM Meeting to Develop New Performance Indicators for ITB Research Centers

Bandung, August 26, 2024 – On Monday, August 26, 2024, a significant meeting was held in the 8th Floor Meeting Room of the CRiMSE Building (formerly PAU) to discuss the development of new performance indicators for the Research Centers (P/PP) at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). The meeting was led by the Head of the Directorate for Multidisciplinary Science and Technology Applications (DIPTM) ITB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Taufan Marhaendrajana, M.Sc., and attended by all the heads of the research centers at ITB, including Dr. Ir. Yoanes Bandung, Head of the Information and Communication Technology Research Center (PPTIK) ITB. The meeting, which began at 1:00 PM WIB, was part of ongoing efforts to align the goals and outputs of ITB’s research centers with the institution’s evolving objectives.

One of the main topics discussed was the organizational change from the Institute for the Advancement of Science and Technology (LPIT) ITB to DIPTM ITB. This change necessitates the establishment of new Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the research centers. The meeting provided a platform to address various concerns from the heads of the research centers regarding the formulation of these KPIs, ensuring that they reflect the unique goals and challenges of each center.
The proposed performance indicators for the research centers include:

  1. Publication of Papers – emphasizing the importance of scientific contributions in reputable journals.
  2. Patents – focusing on innovation and the development of intellectual property.
  3. Implementation of Public Policies – demonstrating the impact of research on societal development and governance.
  4. Funding (Industry Partnerships/Research) – securing industrial partnerships and research grants to support sustainable growth.

These indicators are inspired by the performance criteria used for Centers of Excellence in Science and Technology in Higher Education (PUI-PT) under the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Dr. Yoanes Bandung, as the Head of PPTIK ITB, actively participated in the discussions to ensure that the new KPIs align with the center’s vision and mission. His involvement highlights PPTIK ITB’s commitment to advancing research and innovation, particularly in the fields of information and communication technology.

The meeting underscored the urgency of developing these new KPIs to ensure that the new DIPTM ITB framework effectively supports multidisciplinary research and innovation. The participants agreed to continue refining these indicators to ensure alignment with ITB’s strategic vision and the broader national research agenda.
