FGD Innovation of Quality of Experience (QoE) Measurement Model for Video Streaming Services Based on User Perceptions

The Research Center for Information and Communication Technology (PPTIK) ITB in collaboration with the Bandung ACM Chapter will hold a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled “Innovation of Quality of Experience (QoE) Measurement Model for Video Streaming Services Based on User Perceptions”. The event will be held in the Auditorium of CRiMSE Building (ex PAU), 8th floor, Bandung Institute of Technology, attended by academics, researchers, and digital technology practitioners from various institutions.

The FGD, which will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, is attended by a limited number of 50 participants, creating an intensive and productive discussion atmosphere. The event began at 08.30 WIB with opening remarks from the Chair of Bandung ACM Chapter, Prof. Andriyan Bayu Suksmono, M.T., Ph.D who highlighted the importance of innovation in Quality of Experience (QoE) measurement as part of improving the quality of digital services, especially video streaming services that are increasingly popular in the era of digital transformation.

The main session presented two prominent speakers in their fields, Prof. Dr. Ir. Y. Bandung, S.T., M.T. and Prof. Armein Z. R. Langi, M.Sc., Ph.D. Not only the presentation session, this event also presented an interactive workshop guided by a young PPTIK researcher, Fahmi Chandra Permana, S.Si., M.T. who directly demonstrated the QoE measurement process using tools and methods based on user perception. Participants had the opportunity to be directly involved in the process of evaluating and collecting QoE data on various streaming video service scenarios. As a form of appreciation, participants also received e-certificates from the committee.

Through this activity, it is hoped that a more comprehensive understanding of QoE measurement is formed, which is not only based on technical parameters, but also considers user experience and perception as the main indicators in assessing the quality of digital services. PPTIK ITB and Bandung ACM Chapter are committed to continue to encourage cross-disciplinary research and collaboration to support the development of information technology services that are oriented to user needs.
