Bandung, June 10, 2025 — Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) officially held a hybrid webinar entitled “Exploring the Future with AISX: Research Collaboration AI and Cyber Security for Smart X”. This event marked a significant milestone in introducing AI for Smart-X (AISX) to the public as a multidisciplinary research collaboration center focused on artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity.
Held at the 12th floor of ITB Innovation Park and broadcast live via Zoom, the event featured prominent speakers from academia, government institutions, and strategic industry sectors. The webinar served as an initial step toward building a robust research and innovation ecosystem to support the development of smart technological solutions for Indonesia.
AISX: A Strategic AI and Cybersecurity Collaboration
AISX is a collaborative research center established through the joint effort of ITB and BRIN. The center aims to bridge future technology needs with academic potential through a multidisciplinary and multi-sectoral approach. With a vision to become a catalyst for impactful research, AISX focuses on developing intelligent systems across various sectors including smart infrastructure, smart mobility, smart farming, digital twins, and public facility cybersecurity.
Keynote Speakers from Cross-Sector Institutions
The webinar was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Tatacipta Dirgantara, Rector of ITB, and Dr. Laksana Tri Handoko, Head of BRIN, who presented national strategies for advancing AI and innovative research. Also speaking was Nezar Patria, S.Fil., M.Sc., M.B.A., Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, who emphasized the urgency of strengthening cybersecurity in supporting Indonesia’s digital transformation.
Virtual Open House: Multidisciplinary Smart X Research Projects
In a special session titled Virtual Open House, ten researchers and lecturers from ITB and BRIN presented their flagship ongoing research projects, including:

Forging Future Innovations Through Strategic Collaboration
The event successfully drew the attention of academics, local governments, startups, students, and young professionals from across the country. One of the key outcomes was the establishment of a collaborative research network and a registry of potential institutional partnerships. AISX remains open to new partners interested in contributing to collaborative research, data sharing, funding support, internships, and multidisciplinary doctoral programs.

With the official launch of AISX, Indonesia is expected to be better prepared to face the challenges of the digital era through technologies that are not only advanced but also secure and adaptive. This event marks the beginning of a sustainable, integrated research ecosystem that will strengthen Indonesia’s position in the global technology landscape.
