Bandung, June 20, 2024 – Pusat Penelitian Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi (PPTIK) ITB has successfully received an International Research Grant from the program Riset Internasional Pusat dan Pusat Penelitian (RI3P) in collaboration with Pusan National University. This achievement is documented in the decree issued by Lembaga Pengembangan Ilmu dan Teknologi (LPIT) ITB, numbered 2450.1/IT1.B07.5/TA/2024, dated June 20, 2024.
The research topic proposed by PPTIK ITB is “Development of a Video Delivery Method by Adapting TCP Windowing in the CoAP Protocol.” This research is part of an ongoing collaboration between the head of PPTIK ITB, Dr. Yoanes Bandung and Prof. Jong-Deok Kim from Digital-X AIoT Research Center Pusan National University.
The primary objective of this research is to design a video delivery method using the Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) that incorporates TCP windowing mechanisms. TCP windowing is renowned for its ability to efficiently manage data transmission by dynamically acknowledging packets, thereby enhancing throughput and reducing latency. This study aims to adapt these mechanisms to the unique characteristics of CoAP, which include resource constraints and optimized data transmission reliability.
In this program, 12 Research Centers (P/PP) at ITB have received International Research Center Funding (RI3P). This funding initiative was signed by the Chair of LPIT ITB, Prof. Ir. Taufan Marhaendrajana, M.Sc., Ph.D., on June 20, 2024. Each P/PP is required to meet two mandatory outputs: (1) a Q1 publication with an international collaborator and (2) a seminar, workshop, or guest lecture conducted by the international collaborator.
The successful acquisition of this international research grant highlights PPTIK ITB’s commitment to advancing research and development in information and communication technology. The collaboration with Pusan National University also underscores the global reach and impact of ITB’s research initiatives, fostering innovation and academic excellence.
